I am a PADI dive instructor and lived in FL from 1997 to 2010. I lived in The Fl keys which offers great shallow dives along with several wrecks that are fantastic. However the gulf stream is always very close to ft Lauderdale so vis is mostly always excellent, weather of course plays a factor. There are wrecks off this coast that even the dive operators do not disclose to divers. Just off-shore you can visit several deep wrecks, drift dive in 50-70 ft of water and tons of see life big and small. There are even places that are great to dive from shore. This is why I love to dive off the coast of Ft Lauderdale and feel it is the best Fl has to offer.
