KSC-Curaçao is one of the most successful family diving programs we know of. A secret of this success is the perfect location complemented by program hosts Ocean Encounters and Sea Aquarium.
As a family-owned and -operated business, Ocean Encounters allocates all its resources -- including family members -- to this success. The Ambrosis are committed to making it better every year. While Leo takes care of the junior open-water courses, Christian takes care of the big ones (the parents, just in case you couldn't figure it out!). You will also see Monica and Nolo throughout the whole event, visiting with the participants and making sure everybody is having a great time.
The complete program is set up around the kids' activities. Parents have enough time in the morning to have breakfast with their kids before the activities start. After diving, parents have enough time to eat lunch and relax before picking up the kids. (And most of the times, the kids don't want to go back with the parents!)
While kids enjoy a night of pizza and movies, parents are invited to participate in the night dive or just have a night out.
Other options available to the adults are continuing education courses (advanced open-water) and specialty courses such as photography and National Geographic diver.
Once the junior open-water kids get their certification, they are treated to their first boat dive where they receive their "underwater diploma," and parents are invited to do their first dive with the new divers.
This program is excellent for nondivers, as well; they can take the discover scuba course or participate in tours and activities prepared for the nondiving partner. We named them "Dry Tours," and they include museums, shopping, a liquor factory and Hato Caves, among others.
Every year the program gets better. New activities are added to make sure the parents who keep coming back year after year have new things to do so they don't feel jealous of the kids!
