On Grand Cayman, Sunset House has a long-standing reputation for delivering the goods to divers. In this case, the goods are a bar, a pool and a kickin' reef, all within a rock's throw of each other. Amenities aside, divers can grab a tank and hit the reef 24/7. Giant-stride off the funky iron shore beach into 10 or more feet of clear Cayman bliss. Swim through a patch reef and see turtles, squid, peacock flounder, angelfish and the occasional manta ray. The diversity is amazing. As the reef slopes down, stop at the 50-foot depth mark and view the statue of Amphitrite, a 9-foot-tall resident mermaid cast in bronze. Keep going and you'll come upon a small wreck. Go farther still and the reef really starts to fall away. You can follow the wall as deep as your training and good sense allow, but you'll never get so deep that you can't look up and see the water's surface as clearly as if you were at a safety stop.
