New, Limited Edition Mares Gear
We had to sign an oath of secrecy to not say a word until March 5. Today. So now we can spill the beans about a completely new set of limited-edition metal/tech gear from Mares: a Metal Tech regulator, a special Quattro Excel fin and a Morphos metal BC. If you want this gear, you'll probably have to act fast. Each piece is serialized. Only 2,000 units of the regulator and BC will ever be manufactured, and only 4,000 of the Quattro Excel. All of the pieces feature a laundry list of patents and cutting-edge technology that's far too extensive to detail here.
The Metal Tech regulator has one of the most compact diaphragm first stages on the market. But the real cool factor comes in its DFC precision adjustment device that keeps the intermediate pressure fairly consistent with each inhalation, which translates into less work for each breath. When coupled with the Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) second stage, the technology -- without getting too technical -- allows for more natural, effortless breathing.
The Quattro Excel fins are just plain rad and pack a whole new set of patents into an already proven design. These sleek black fins incorporate a metal foil insert for better snap, plus three different techno-polymers and an elastic "OPB" system that helps regulate thrust throughout the kick cycle. Mares fins have long been a favorite of divers, and this fin will help bring new converts to the Mares camp.
The Morphos Metal BC utilizes an "armchair" buoyancy design, which keeps divers in a perfect upright position on the surface. The harness system has a self-adjust feature, and the inflator hose buttons are big and easy to use for adjustments.
Together, the set will surely raise your status among the gear set at your local dive shop and on dive boats everywhere.
