LOCATION: Bermuda, shaped like a fishhook, is 2l.6 miles long by two miles wide. The semi-tropical atoll lies 570 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and 754 miles from New York City.

CLIMATE: Year-round temperatures range from 68 to 84 degrees, the relative humidity varying from 71 to 84 percent. Average annual rainfall is 57 inches with no rainy season.

GETTING THERE: Bermuda is served by American Airlines, U.S. Airways, Delta, Continental, TWA, Air Canada and British Airways.

Diving:
High season for diving is from mid-March through November, with some dive operators open year-round. Off-season diving offers even greater visibility and few crowds. Full quarter-inch wet suits are worn during the winter months when the water temperature drops into the 60s.

Prices average: $75 for a two tank package; $255 for an eight dive package and $300 for a 10 dive package. Operators will visit favorite wreck sites upon request as long as the weather cooperates.

CURRENCY: Although the Bermuda dollar (BD$) is the local favorite, U.S. dollars are widely circulated. The BD$ is pegged to the U.S. dollar on an equal basis. Major U.S. credit cards are widely accepted.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: A passport or a birth certificate, accompanied by a photo I.D., is required for entry. A voter's card and driver's license are no longer accepted as identification.
