Raiatea & Tahaa, French PolynesiaTwin Islands Share The Same Lagoon Fantastic coral gardens abound in the lagoon off of Raiatea and its sister island of Tahaa. Black coral, sponges and marine life have made their home on the wreck of a merchant ship. Strong currents are present on the Teavapiti Inlet, and with several dive sites to choose from, divers won't be disappointed with the inhabiting creatures like Manta rays, sharks, barracudas, angelfish, and Napolean wrasse.
Raiatea also called ''holly island'' is the 2nd biggest island in French Polynesia. It shares its lagoon with Tahaa and is at about 200 km to the West-North-West of Tahiti. The underwater landscape wealth is illuminated with the ''Nosby'', a magnificent three-master which sank in 1900.
