Kona Classic 2003 The Winner's Circle The Kona Coast of Hawaii is an underwater photographer's dream destination with everything from humpbacks, dolphins and oceanic whitetips cruising the open ocean, to turtles, manta rays and hoards of butterflyfish along the shore. It's difficult to choose what to shoot first, but that's exactly the task participants in this years Kona Classic set out for themselves. We had several categories for our camera gladiators to compete in for the ultimate prize-macro, wide-angle, animal portrait, diver portrait, creative, point and shoot, topside and a contest for locals only. There was also a video contest and a best of show was chosen from among the first place winners of each category. There was a treasure chest of prizes: A Tahiti Aggressor trip for the best of show, a Tobago itinerary aboard Peter Hughes Wind Dancer for the Open and Locals category winners in the video contest and a pirate's hoard of gear from Scubapro, Aqualung, DeepOutdoors, BodyGlove, Sea Life cameras, Sea & Sea cameras, Wyland and others. The winners in each category also received a Wyland sculpture as a trophy. So, without further ado enjoy the winning images from the Kona Classic 2003.
