WHAT TO BRING
U.S. citizens entering Colombia for 60 days or less will need a valid passport for entry. Visit the U.S. State Department website for more information about entry requirements.
Documents to bring:
- Valid passport
- Photo I.D.
- C-card
When you arrive in Colombia you will also be issued a "tourist card" that you will carry with you while in Colombia.
When you travel outside of the U.S., you can also register with the U.S. State Department, so that in case of an emergency you can be located or contacted.
Currency:
The peso is the currency on San Andres Many ATMs are available, but consult with you bank on transfers and foreign exchange rates before you go. Some establishments cannot process credit cards, so cash is helpful. Bring $1 bills for tips, and small purchases
WHAT TO PACK
Equipment
- If you normally bring your own equipment, be aware that customs officials may thoroughly check your bags (excessive equipment can be a red flag that you are trying to "sell" it)
- Dive shops are usually fully-equipped with tanks and many offer Nitrox as well
- Gloves, if desired
- A 3 mm shorty (if desired) is all you'll need most of the year
- If you'd rather leave your equipment at home, most dive operators in San Andres offer everything you need ( Note: Since it's not advisable to drink or use the tap water for brushing teeth, etc., you might want to bring your own equipment you are concerned)

If you have special requirements, it's best to call ahead and verify that the dive operator can accommodate your needs.
In Your Suitcase:
- (Make sure your items meet FAA guidelines at the time of travel)
- Sunscreen
- Pepto Bismol or Imodium, just in case
- Bug spray
- Hat
- Casual summer clothing
- Evening wear for dance clubs and discos
- Bathing suits and cover ups
