DAN will offer two Instructor Trainer Workshop Weeks at DAN Headquarters, giving interested scuba instructor trainers the opportunity to become DAN Instructor Trainers.

Twenty Instructor Trainer candidates will be accepted into each of the two courses. One is scheduled for April 17-24, and the second is set for Sept. 11-18.

To be a DAN Instructor Trainer, you must:
Be a DAN Member
Be a Course Director or Instructor Trainer with a recognized, recreational scuba training organization
Be a CPR Instructor or Instructor Trainer
Meet medical screening to participate in the research study (only required for participation in the research study)

The ITW course curriculum will include the entire menu of DAN courses for instructor trainer candidates, including:

Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
Oxygen First Aid for Aquatic Emergencies Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba Diving
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Aquatic Emergencies
First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries
Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries
Remote Emergency Medical Oxygen (REMO2)
Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals (BLSPRO)

Each Instructor Trainer Workshop Week also includes presentations by DAN Medical staff, DAN Research staff and the DAN Industry Membership team.

In addition, eligible participants will participate in a diving research study conducted at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology at the Duke University Medical Center.

Current DAN Instructor Trainers who lack one or more of these certifications may also attend the program to receive the additional training and receive updates on existing programs.

The course fee is $1,000 US and includes all course training materials and application fees. Study participants will receive payment for their participation in the research study.
