The first pair of scuba fins I ever bought were Cressi-sub Frogs, about 15 years ago. Scarred and somewhat discolored, they still perform great and I still dive with them regularly, despite the fact that I now own two other pairs of fins. With this affection for my Frogs, I had mixed emotions when I heard that Cressi was introducing new fins that would eventually replace the aging but perfectly serviceable Frog line. After diving them, my emotions cleared. The new Rodine Pro Light fin is a worthy successor to the Frog heritage. The blade is molded from a proprietary technopolymer material that replaces the traditional EVA that was used in the Frogs and most fins out on the market today. The fiber in this material makes the blade stiffer without making it rigid. The result is a nice little flick at the end of each leg stroke that improves your kick efficiency.Cressi's engineers retained the signature ''foot under blade'' pocket design from the Frog, which helps remove stress from your ankles. The pocket also extends all the way under your heel instead of ending under your instep, which Cressi says further aids in energy transfer during the stroke. Also, the foot pocket's soft rubber walls expand to accommodate heavier booties or drysuit boots, which make this a multi-purpose fin.The foot pocket has three drain holes and the pivoting buckles made the fins easy to get on and off, even in the water.Rodine Pro Light fins come in four unisex sizes and are available in blue, black or yellow accented with charcoal gray. Summary: Cressi-sub retained the best aspects of its successful Frog fins and advanced them forward with the introduction of the Rodine Pro Light. These are good all-around fins that will perform well in the tropics or the Arctic. MSRP: $100. Contact: http://www.cressisubusa.com
