Sherwood Shadow Plus A few years ago Sherwood introduced the Minimus, a second stage designed specifically for use as an octopus. This low-profile model was about a third smaller than conventional regs and lay flat against a BC. By design, the Minimus had a higher cracking pressure than standard regulators, was less susceptible to free-flow and more tolerant of abuse. The new Shadow Plus is a logical evolution of the original Shadow concept. The unit includes a Minimus second stage and a special Y-fitting that allows the regulator to lie flat against the body and line up with the BC air hose. When attached, the mouthpiece faces inward and can be brought to the mouth easily with a no-look grab from either hand. The Shadow-Plus requires slightly more breathing effort than those costly, specially designed inflator/regulator combos, but in return, it offers simplicity, reliability, superior resistance to free-flow and a significant cost savings.
