It's hard to pick a favorite moment in these emerald isles. I loved how close they all are -- no dive site was more than a 20-minute boat ride. I loved how friendly everyone was, both on and off the dive boats. I loved anchoring at night in quiet coves from aboard our live-aboard sailing catamaran My Ann (one of the boats in The Moorings fleet) and then spending a few days at Fort Recovery Beachfront Villa and Suites Hotel. We dived with Sail Caribbean Divers, Dive BVI and Blue Water Divers on all the best dive sites the British Virgin Islands has to offer. My favorite sites? The Rhone, of course, but also Joe's Cave, Thumb Rock and Angelfish Reef, just to name a handful. Plus, we got to experience snorkeling, the Baths, seaside restaurants and bars, using information gathered from the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board.
Yes, we are media, and yes, Sport Diver has a recognizable name in the islands, but everyone we talked to was having the same special experience. A laid-back charm -- the go-slow Caribbean of yesteryear -- characterizes every island we visited and locals were more than generous in spending time with us, helping us and sharing stories with us. Whether you decide to visit this island by live-aboard (both the My Ann and Cuan Law offer live-aboard dive itineraries), you'll have your own favorite moments to recount once you get back home.
