Avatar director James Cameron has made some of the biggest movies of all time Titanic, Avatar and it's a pretty safe bet Avatar 2 and his films and documentaries reflect his love of the ocean and scuba diving (The Abyss, Aliens of the Deep, and Avatar 2, which will explore Pandora's oceans). He's best known for his fascination with technology: Avatar's 3-D Fusion Camera System is now being used on James Cameron's Sanctum, a cave-diving thriller shooting on Australia's Gold Coast, as well as Avatar 2, and his experience with underwater filming and remote vehicles has attracted attention from experts working to clean up the BP oil spill. What led the young James Cameron down this path? Watch as the director and ocean explorer shares how scuba diving first helped him connect his love of science fiction and the natural world with his artistic ability and is still helping him make those connections today. "My love affair with the ocean is ongoing," Cameron says, "and just as strong as it ever was."
