The Escape

While on a night dive off El Cid in Cozumel a small yellow clam flew in front of my face. As I saw the True Tulip snail (Fasciolaria tulipa) crawling on the bottom I understood right away what had happened. Thus to reproduce the event I gently picked up the clam that was now laying on the sand and i placed it in the pass of the large snail. It did not miss... As the snail came closer the clam took evasive action using it siphon to jet propel itself out of harms way.
