Thanks to the initiative of the Ecuadorian people, new laws enacted should help rectify any of the growth pangs these famed Darwinian islands have suffered in the latter part of the 1990s. This is still one of the grails of diving -- home of the giant tortoise, marine iguanas and pelagics of all kinds. This fecund species incubator can only be dived by live-aboard dive boats and remains in nearly the same condition underwater as when it was first discovered.
