Divetech's dive shop at Lighthouse Point, winner of the 2011 Governor's Award, is entirely solar-powered. With no electric bill or no water bill, rainwater is collected in a large cistern, then filtered & chlorinated for toilets, showers, boat dock and scuba gear rinse tank.
The building uses recycled materials like reclaimed brick, recycled glass for countertops, recycled concrete and sustainable timbering -- for every tree cut down, we certify that another tree is planted. Divetech is very confident that they are the first dive shop to be 100% sustainable with "carbon-free" power.
The World Travel & Tourism Council nominated Divetech for the "Tourism for Tomorrow Award" in 2012.
