Gran Marcha, "The Grand Parade"

Gran Marcha is the highlight of Carnival Season. Thousands of participants will show off dazzling costumes and floats, and dance to the music of the "Road March," while thousands of spectators celebrate with exuberant expressions of joy as the parade winds through the streets of historic Otrobanda. Curacao's Carnival Season runs from Jan. 3 - Feb 24, 2009.

April 30
Queen's Birthday (Official Holiday)
Island-wide celebrations and activities take place including parades by local folklore groups donning traditional costumes.

May 23 Ð May 30
Curacao Dive Festival
Dive guests can participate in photography and videography seminars, learn about historic wrecks and ocean conservation and take part in other activities alongside world-famous dive experts, all FREE of charge.

June/July
Kids Sea Camp
There is no better opportunity to help children discover the ocean; Kids Sea Camp has something for everyone. Kids ages 4 to 14 can participate in selected scuba programs, interact with marine life, including dolphins, and participate in beach bonfires, treasure hunts and other fun, educational activities.

July 26
Curacao Day
The discovery of Curacao by Alonzo de Ojeda is celebrated with a variety of folkloric activities throughout the island.

August 15 -November 15
Curacao Culture, Cuisine & Heritage Experience
Visitors learn about Curacao's multicultural history and sample international cuisine during this annual event. Museums, art galleries, restaurants and tour operators will have special offers on purchases and admissions.

September
Coral Spawning

A must-dive in Curacao! After September's two full moons, divers from all over the world slip into the dark night sea to see Curacao's echinoderms, worms, sponges and hard and soft corals reproduce; it's a stunning display that creates miniature beads of light.
