Deco Stops Curacao

Curaçao has everything from quiet, romantic, out-of-the-way beaches to night life that will make you wish you were young (and single) again. If you can make it during Carnival season (check www.curacao.com for dates - typically late January to mid-February), you'll be in for a nonstop street party. Continuing the party theme, the place to be on Friday nights is Tu Tu Tango. The scene moves to Mambo Beach and Wet 'n' Wild Beach Club on Saturday nights, where it seems everyone under 30 in the entire Caribbean is crowded into one place. Casinos are also scattered throughout the island in case you feel Lady Luck's tug. They say the best payouts are at the Holiday Beach Hotel & Casino. If your night life leans more toward a fine meal and conversation, you'll have to make your way to Le Clochard, located at Riffort Village. Avila Beach Hotel has the top-notch Blues Club, and its Belle Terrace restaurant is one of the best on the island. Gouverneur De Rouville restaurant, in a prime location overlooking the waterfront, has great seafood. On the west end, make your way to Jaanchi's for some mouthwatering local specialties. On the quieter side, the west end has some incredible beaches. Favorites include Grand Knip, Klein Knip, Playa Lagun and Playa Porto Marie. If you've brought your hiking shoes, a trek up Mount Christoffel will afford 360-degree views of the island. Close to town, there's always a visit to the Sea Aquarium, and the Kurá Hulanda Museum is a must-see.
