2010 World's Best Diving & Resorts: Fiji Aggressor II

Ply through colorful Bligh Waters and the Koro Sea aboard the 18-passenger catamaran Fiji Aggressor II. Saturday evening, the diving starts at Manta Rock in search of huge manta rays, which use the reef as a cleaning station. Diving continues with breathtaking soft coral walls with stops at dive sites like Black Forest, Namena Reef and North Save-a-Tack Passage. The soft coral capital of the world offers divers fantastic marine life like sharks, lionfish and blue-ribbon eels. Excellent snorkeling is available for non-diving passengers. Night diving is also offered. June 12-26, 2010, divers may join a special charter that will dive the best sites on the standard seven-day itinerary, then continue to the remote sites of Somosomo Strait.

As I’ve discovered, Cozumel isn’t known for its currents for nothing.  Our first day, our group dropped in to about 100 feet at Punta Sur, a great site to the south of the island. And it was great — we party crashed on a school of jacks and saw plenty of pinnacles covered in sponges, gorgonians and tube corals. The current at that depth, while present, wasn’t overwhelming.
