What to Expect Wrecks galore. Over 400 shipwrecks of all shapes, sizes and eras lie beneath the waters, from doomed Spanish galleons to deliberately sunken modern-day vessels. The islands of Bermuda enjoy mild year-round temperatures thanks to the presence of the warm Gulf Stream current, but water and air temperatures can reach 65 degrees in the winter. Conditions are calm, and visibility can reach 200 feet -- the clearest in the Atlantic. Reefs are very healthy and diverse in their architecture, supporting a variety of marine life. As a plus for new divers, most operators provide wreck certification.
