Live the Dream in Puerto Rico

If you've ever dreamed about getting your story and images published in Sport Diverwell, dream no more. We're running a once in a lifetime trip to explore some of the Caribbean's best kept dive secrets off the oft overlooked and underdived island of Puerto Rico. Places such as Desecheo Island and La Parguera Wall. Plus, we've got special access to spend a few days exploring the "Galapagos of the Caribbean," Mona Island. This is an actual assignment, and everyone who comes along on the trip will have a chance to submit a story and photos for consideration for publication in Sport Diver. I'll be along on the trip to give everyone pointers on how to come up with a compelling story, what kinds of images end up making it to print and sharing all the secrets I know to successfully finding and executing a great dive travel missive. I'm also bringing along world famous photographer, Amos Nachoum, who will share every secret he's gained from almost 35 years as a marine photographer. Between dives, we've organized exclusive access to some of Puerto Rico's most storied diversions, Arecibo, Camuy Caverns, Gilligan's Island, and the rainforest. We'll end up the trip in El Vieja, Old San Juan and join the tourist board for a behind the scenes fiesta at the old jail. Everyone who signs up will get an assignment letter, the same as we give to our contributors. We'll work hard on this trip, so expect to be on the move constantly it is an actual assignment and there's usually little time to stop and soak up the sun. But by the end of this trip, you'll definitely know what it takes to be a marine photojournalist and what it takes to produce the kinds of stories you see in each issue of Sport Diver.

Through the Lens: Shark Diving for Beginners

"Never," "you can go with a friend," "we do have children" ... these are just some of my excuses to never go shark diving on a designated shark trip. No misunderstanding: I absolutely love sharks during an unexpected encounter.
