2010 World's Best Diving & Resorts: Anse Chastanet & Scuba St. Lucia

What were Caribbean hotels like when one sat watching the sunset instead of cable TV? Anse Chastanet's renowned National Geo/PADI Five Star Dive Resort facility Scuba St. Lucia is situated right on the Anse Chastanet beach. Scuba St. Lucia offers gear storage; a well-equipped scuba store; three compressors; nitrox; rental dive gear and an underwater photography centre. The house reef, Anse Chastanet reef, starts just 10 yards beyond the water's edge. The reef offers an amazing profusion of unusual tropical marine life, in 20 to 140 feet of calm, clear water. In the shallow areas scuba divers find peacock flounders, octopus, needlefish and turtles. Or, dropping down a little deeper over dense coral growth, they see puffers, moray eels, parrotfish, lobsters and even sea horses. This is a unique dive site for all abilities and good for critter photography and night diving. The week is easily filled with a variety of diving locations, the majority of which are within easy reach by dive boat, including wall and wreck diving.
