Surrounded by the tropical hills, you can watch spectacular sunsets and gaze at the fantastic star filled skies. All West offers 3 different categories of Apartments: - Studio (max. occupancy 2 person) - Junior Apartment (max. occupancy 3 person) - Apartment (max. occupancy 4 person) All our Apartments are ocean front and have a fully equipped kitchen, AC and either a private sun deck or terrace. Both Junior Apartments and Apartments have a living room with a separate sleeping couch. We offer Wireless LAN access to those who bring their laptop around. Right at the apartments you have the possibility to store, rinse and dry your privately owned dive equipment. All our divers have a key to our dive base, which gives you the opportunity to dive 24 / 7 right in front of the Apartments. Our House reef Playa Piskado is only a few steps away from your apartment. Our main dive shop Ocean Encounters West overlooking Playa Kalki offers a full range of PADI courses (up to Divemaster), quality equipment rental, and an air filling station. We also offer daily boat trips to sites which are hard to get to or impossible to reach from shore. Curaçao's most well-known dive site, Mushroom Forest, is on our schedule at least twice per week. The most northern dive site, Watamula, is only 5 minutes away by boat and offers spectacular healthy formations of hard corals, a soft coral-garden and a large variety of marine life.
In February 2007 All West and Ocean Encounters West sank a Fokker Fairchild 27, which not only offers a new habitat for the underwater life of Curaçao, now it’s also Curaçao’s hottest new dive attraction. Securely moored to the bottom at a depth of 50 feet (15 meters), this 100 foot (30 meter) long Fokker Fairchild 27 jet once had a capacity for 80 passengers. The seats were removed prior to submersion in February 2007, enabling experienced divers to safely swim through the fuselage, with two large open doorways in the tail and one up front. The wreck is situated on a narrow strip of sand, surrounded to all sides by pristine hard corals layered in unique terrace formations, a great place to spot turtles, barracuda, and large morays hiding in the cracks. Located between the renowned sites of Alice in Wonderland and Watamula, “Elvin’s Plane Wreck” is only a 3 minute boat ride from our dock and is offered as a regular one-tank afternoon dive.
