2010 World's Best Diving & Resorts: Utila Aggressor

Guests aboard the 14-passenger Utila Aggressor yacht will explore the sheer walls and wrecks surrounding Utila as well as offshore seamounts. These pristine seamounts are a Caribbean frontier that is just beginning to be explored by divers. Cannery Bank, Coco's Seamounts and Hawksbill Bank are all on the Utila Aggressor's dive schedule. Utila is world-famous for whale sharks — the world's largest fish — and Aggressor guests may have the opportunity to swim with these migrating mammoths. Divers will also sample the lush walls and fascinating macro life of nearby Roatan Island, the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands. Watch for the brand-new 18-passenger yacht due to arrive in 2010.

I’ve spent four days diving in Cozumel so far, and it’s been…fast. As I’ve discovered, Cozumel isn’t known for its currents for nothing.  Our first day, our group dropped in to about 100 feet at Punta Sur, a great site to the south of the island. And it was great — we party crashed on a school of jacks and saw plenty of pinnacles covered in sponges, gorgonians and tube corals. The current at that depth, while present, wasn’t overwhelming.
