WHERE TO STAY
San Andres is worlds apart from Providence, even though the two islands are just a few miles apart. Although both are owned by Colombia, the islands are as different as night and day. The bustling vacation island of San Andres is a popular travel destination for beach-lovers and divers alike with many hotels, excellent duty-free shopping, nightlife, low rolling hills, beautiful beaches and more.

Providence, however, is a diamond in the rough by comparison. The terrain is mountainous with few beaches, accommodations are mostly family-owned cottages, bungalows and small motels and there's not much nightlife to speak of. But Providence has incredible diving, a lush tropical terrain, locally caught and prepared dishes, and a very laid-back, "no worries" kind of attitude. Here you'll meet friendly locals everywhere you turn, and they're happy to help make your visit enjoyable.

For information about some of these hotels check out a travel review website like Tripadvisor before you go.
