Chuuk is well-known as one of the world's best wreck diving locations, but
the outer reefs host a plentiful supply of marine life and some larger
pelagic species, too. The area was once known as "Truk Lagoon," and is the
site of the U.S. attack on the Japanese military in 1944.

If you stay at one of the hotels, chances are you'll eat there most of the
time. There are a few restaurants and dining spots scattered throughout Chuuk
so you may be able to find a favorite place if you do some exploring topside.

The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) retains close ties with the United
States and travel there is generally uncomplicated. The languages spoken are
Chuukese and English, and most locals speak at least some English. Entry for
U.S. citizens is simple and a valid passport is generally all that is
necessary.

If you are flying to Chuuk, there is a small airport in the capital city of
Weno. Most islands in Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) have airports of
some kind and many offer island-hopper service between islands.
