Get Briefed On At The Museum

Islamorada, FL - Join the History of Diving Museum as we host Catherine Whitaker from the Reef Environmental Education Foundation. REEF is a grass-roots organization that seeks to conserve marine ecosystems by educating, enlisting and enabling divers and other marine enthusiasts to become active ocean stewards and citizen scientists.

Ms. Whitaker will speak about the various programs currently in progress and will answer questions on what the diving community can do to help, learn and have fun diving with a purpose while raising awareness about our aquatic ecosystems worldwide.

REEF was founded in 1990 out of growing concern about the health of the marine environment, and the desire to provide the scuba diving community a way to contribute to the understanding and protection of marine life populations. REEF volunteers have assisted with monitoring projects at National Marine Sanctuaries, National Parks, state research sites and international marine areas. REEF has many projects including the exotic fish campaign, the grouper moon and a home study DVD package aimed at beginning "fishwatchers." The DVD course is available online at www.REEF.org and at dive retailers and resorts.
