Turneffe Island Lodge - all is well after the hurricanes

Dear Valued Guests & Friends;

To all of you that have ever visited our beautiful island lodge in Belize, this letter is for you.

First of all - it was touching in the wake of both Hurricane Dean and Felix to receive so many phone calls and e-mails of concern. It makes us proud to know that our island lodge and our staff have positively touched so many of you and that you were thinking about us.

Luckily, hurricane Dean passed north of the island and Felix went south. Our evacuation plans were implemented and all guests and staff headed to safer grounds and the lodge was locked down. There was no structural damage except to our wave breakers in front of the island - as they served their purpose! Other than that, only branches and coconuts were scattered around the island and some of our beach was relocated by the storm surge.

A few of our staff who live up north in Corozal were not as lucky. There was some damage to some of their homes, but thankfully no harm came to the people. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by both storms throughout the Caribbean and Central America.

We are now closed for 2 months for both the hurricane clean up and our routine annual maintenance which includes, re-painting, re-varnishing, gardening, boat maintenance, etc. We are also completing other improvements to this beautiful jewel of the Caribbean that will only enhance your next experience with us.

We will re-open for regular business operations on 27th October. Visit our website for specials and other offers and come see us again - and send your friends our way! World-class diving, fishing and relaxing awaits.

We hope to see you all again real soon.

Sunny Regards from Uwe, Tania, Gaz, Sandy and all the staff at Turneffe Island Lodge.

Sincerely,
Chris Shiver
