There’s something for every type of visiting vacationer in the Turks and Caicos Islands, whether you’re a solo traveler, couple, family or part of a group. That’s also true about a dive vacation aboard the Turks & Caicos Aggressor II—you’ll find nonstop adventure when you book either of its two popular itineraries.

On the yacht’s dive itinerary, you’ll visit northwest Providenciales—aka Provo—West Caicos and French Cay. The action amps up off Provo’s Northwest Point at sites such as Shark Hotel where, if you’re lucky, sharks might make an appearance after you drop through a chimney in the reef to the wall at 130 feet. At the Crack, you’ll descend into a narrow cut in the reef that’s decorated with corals and sponges; out in the blue, turtles are frequent visitors. At the aptly named Black Coral Forest, you’ll find healthy populations of five different species of this rare coral. Once the site of a French television game show, the Dome is an entertaining night dive.

The pristine sites off West Caicos include Driveway, a sand chute in shallow water that leads to the wall, and Rock Garden Interlude, where you can stay shallow and poke around several coral heads or drop down over the wall and have chance encounters with bigger fish. Swim through the gully at Whiteface—named for the island’s white sandy cliffs—to find the 17th-century anchor embedded in its north side. Make a night dive here and you’ll encounter lobsters, octopuses and nurse sharks. At Gullies, divers follow a channel in the reef to reach the edge of the wall.

French Cay offers the colorfully named sites Rock and Roll, Double D and G-Spot. These drop-offs are lavishly adorned with barrel and elephant ear sponges, as well as elkhorn and pillar corals. Rock and Roll is a fun night dive. Double D features two coral mounds that have been described as a “Garden of Eden”—they’re teeming with fish and there’s a chance a spotted eagle ray will glide by.

From mid-January through March, the yacht cruises the Dominican Republic’s Silver Bank where guest snorkel with North Atlantic humpback whales that have come here to mate and calve. The excursions are conducted from two 18-foot-long-inflatable chase boats. You’ll be treated to breaches, tail slaps, tail lobs and fluke displays by adults that can be 50 feet long, as well as playful and curious antics by the calves. It’s truly a magical experience.

“A great week on board. Captain Flowers was able to accommodate our large group and after a week of eating Chef Carlos’s amazing meals, going out to dinner in town was disappointing. The dive team did a great job leading some fantastic dives.”
