These awards come as no surprise to long-time repeat guests, who love this dive operation for its dedication to safe and enjoyable dive charters, knowledgeable and expert scuba training, and committed ocean conservation. It is truly your one-stop shop for all your scuba diving needs while you’re on vacation in Kauai. It doesn’t take long for guests to realize just how special this dive operator is. They offer a wide range of shore and boat diving and ensure that education is a part of the experience, including the dive briefings you receive before entering the water.

“Our instructors give interesting facts about the fish you may encounter and the behaviors they may exhibit,” says Jeannette Auber, owner of Fathom Five. “We try to offer something that is interesting for people who may not be familiar with the fish or marine creatures they’ll find in Kauai.”
The Fathom Five team’s personalized approach to each underwater experience is evident when you dive at Koloa Landing on Kauai’s beautiful South Shore. This site sets Fathom Five apart from other boat-centric dive operations on the island. A favorite among the guests who return to Kauai year after year, Koloa Landing permits you the freedom to explore a site at your own pace. It features a massive, diverse and intricate reef system with high biodiversity plus calm conditions that are ideal for both rusty divers easing back into the sport and seasoned divers who are seeking variety and complexity. You can choose to make either a one- or two-tank dive. This shore site is also where Fathom Five instructors take their “Try Scuba” students.
“At Koloa Landing, you don’t need a boat to see what Kauai offers to divers,” says Auber. “It’s not unusual to see more than a dozen green sea turtles on a dive here. We see them whether we dive here in the morning or afternoon. And eagle rays, too.” The site is also filled with creatures not easily found at other sites. “Our instructors and dive guides know the homes and breeding locations of some of rarest animals on Kauai.” Auber says it’s even possible to have dolphin encounters here.

Fathom Five DiversBoat diving is a favorite, especially off Kauai’s rugged North Shore and the remote waters of Niʻihau.
Of course, boat diving is also popular, particularly at sites on Kauai’s dramatic North Shore or the remote adventure dives found off Ni’ihau. Fathom Five takes no more than six divers on custom-built dive boats. Most sites are conveniently located just five to 10 minutes from shore.
Auber visited Hawaii in 1990 on a vacation and decided to get certified as a diver. “I was hooked,” she says. “I went back home to Santa Cruz and I just dove nonstop for the next six months and got all my training up through divemaster. After that, I moved to Kauai. I've been diving for over 30 years and I still have a tremendous love of it.” She became the third owner of Fathom Five in 2001.
You’ll find that the Fathom Five team embraces the “Aloha Spirit”—which emphasizes kindness, unity and respect. It's more than just a greeting on their dive boats; it’s their guiding principle for their approach to their customers and for their marine environment.
“The world is becoming more aware of the issues impacting the ocean. Our job is to educate the people who dive with us so that they can be better stewards and help protect what they see.” —Jeannette Auber, owner Fathom Five Divers.
