Eilat Red Sea Hopes to Set Scuba Diving Guinness World Record

World Record Dive

Eilat Red Sea is hoping to set a Guinness record in scuba diving with the largest audience for a live-streamed underwater event.

Scuba divers never cease to make waves underwater — and even Guinness World Records can’t escape their splash zone.

On Sept. 12, hundreds of divers along with 26 diving instructors, 32 production members and 12 professional photographers will dive together at the Satile, a missile boat wreck in Eilat, Israel. The dive will be broadcast live to YouTube, and if half a million viewers tune in to watch, a new world record in scuba diving of the largest audience for a live-streamed underwater event will wind up in the books.

The event is part of the 10th anniversary celebration of “Eilat Red Sea — International Underwater Photo Competition,” and will begin at 11:30 a.m. GMT +2. The broadcast, however, will start 30 minutes prior and feature preparations for the dive.

Tune in then to watch the record-breaking dive in real time below. Once the broadcast begins, the video will automatically start. The excursion will also be featured at www.eilatredsea.com.
