Ambergris Caye, Belize

We sought a good dive place that was close and warm in the winter. They promised 82 degrees year round. It was warm but very windy. The place we stayed at advertised a magnificent dive boat. But alas, they sank that some time ago. Daily they crash the boat through a 12' wave barrier, and park right there in a 12 ' swell and say- ok, do a backward roll entry! The island itself was fun, lots of shopping. Diving was cloudy and churned up- can't pick the weather. Went to the Blue hole. 135 straight down & straight back to look at a stalagmite. Kind of a let down. The blue hole looks like it has much more to see at shallower depths- A liveaboard would be better way to go!
