Gear You Should Get for Wreck Diving

Wreck Tech
If you are stepping up to technical wreck diving, you’ll need some additional scuba gear to make your dives both more fun and safe. So before you explore your first wrecks, check out these key pieces of scuba gear you might want to add to your kit.

Apeks Tek 3 Regulator Set
For new tec wreck divers first gearing up, this is an excellent choice. The Tek 3 first stages have been designed specifically for use with twin-tank configurations, with dedicated left- and right-hand orientations. In the complete set, they’re paired with XTX50 first stages, which have left/right reversibility and feature diver-adjustable venturi and inhalation resistance controls. Apeks first stages offer excellent cold-water.

SCUBAPRO Pure Tek
Available with either a 30-pound lift wing for single tanks or a 60-pound lift wing for doubles, the Pure Tek air cells are paired with a stainless backplate, continuous harness, multiple D-rings, crotch strap and a single tank adapter with supercinch straps. The heavy-duty harness and D-rings keep stage bottles securely in place and can be configured to accommodate any setup.

IST Sports Dolphin Tec JT65D BC
A dual-bladder, rear-mount air cell is paired with a stainless backplate and padded harness. Contoured shoulders have quick-release buckles and weight-integrated pockets are mounted at the hips. The harness includes multiple stainless D-rings and a crotch strap. Redundant, 65-pound lift air cells provide peace of mind at depth and the included bungees aid streamlining. The deluxe style harness boosts comfort, and the weight pockets make this rig easy to use for single-tank diving.

Dive Rite NiTek Q4 Dive Computer
A brilliant OLED display and two-gas nitrox capability are standard with the NiTek Q, but it can be upgraded to handle full trimix (seven gases) and to support rebreather diving. A rechargeable battery provides 30 hours of dive time, and the MIL-SPEC hard-anodized housing helps provide a 150 metre/492-foot depth rating.
