Update on status of the Cayman Islands following Hurricane Paloma

The Cayman Islands is comprised of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Grand Cayman, the largest of the three islands which accounts for the vast majority of the tourism properties, has resumed business as usual. Grand Cayman continues to welcome guests to our sun drenched shores and pristine turquoise waters. Having felt few effects from Hurricane Paloma, with the system passing 30 miles to the east of Grand Cayman, the island is busily receiving guests at air and sea ports. Travellers are advised to confirm their accommodation reservations prior to arrival.

All dive operators in Grand Cayman are operation and running 'business as usual'. The dive operators also report no damage to our dive sites and the reefs remain as beautiful as ever.

The Sister Islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are located 89 miles northeast of Grand Cayman and were impacted by Paloma.

On Little Cayman, tourism accommodations received only minimal damage and expect to re-open early next week by which time Cayman Airways Express will be operating regular flight schedules.

Cayman Brac was directly impacted by the storm and sustained significant damage. Tourism properties there are undergoing assessment and recovery efforts. As assessments are completed, continuous updates will be provided on the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism's website: www.caymanislands.ky.

Visitors with plans to travel to the Sister Islands should contact their travel professional or the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism at 1-877-4CAYMAN.
